I just needed to build the VMware-Tools package which is bundled with our ESXi 4 System for one of our Web-server system running the latest Ubuntu 10.10.
Vsock, VMXnet are currently broken. So I patched this modules and build a new installer package. It is running now with out problems a couple of weeks.

You know, I had the exact same problem, but the archive you’ve linked here seems corrupt. Or I’m doing something wrong, which is a good possibility

The “vmware.install.pl” is a symlink which points to “./bin/vmware-uninstall-tools.pl”
