MedTech is starting the new academic year with big changes

The new semester is behind the door and we are looking forward to starting with big changes – our new HyFlex master’s program in Medical Engineering & Analytics (MEA) and the doc.funds project establishing 7 PhD positions in collaboration with the Medical University of Vienna.

First, we are pleased to see not only the interest in our bachelor’s program in Medical Engineering but also in our new HyFlex master’s program in Medical Engineering & Analytics (MEA). This master’s program focuses on the current trends in medical engineering: artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, and assistive technologies. Despite the initial doubts about the student interest in studying HyFlex – meaning the students can each week decide if they join the lecture on-site or online and choose the possibility to take the given lecture asynchronously (from anywhere in the world) – we are pleased to see high demands for such studies. MEA is starting full!

Second, the FWF doc.funds project in collaboration with the Medical University of Vienna is starting, and so are seven PhD students – four sitting at the CUAS and three at the MUV. In this project, new methods in the field of ultra-high-field magnetic resonance imaging, histology and artificial intelligence will be established to improve the treatment of brain tumours and demyelinating diseases such as multiple sclerosis.

We are looking forward to sharing with all of you the new discoveries, developments and research results not only our PhD, but also our new master’s and bachelor’s students will achieve in the next years.

Yours,
MedTech @ FH Kärnten Team
