AICI: a conference on Artificial Intelligence in Clinical Imaging

This year’s AICI Forum conference was again a great success. With interesting talks from different fields of expertise, participants got an extensive overview on the advantages, but also the challenges of Artificial Intelligence in Clinical Imaging. While Dr. Thomas Kau gave insights from a radiologist’s point of view on how AI could impact his day-to-day work, Dr. Nikolaus Forgó emphasized the legal aspects when it comes to the use of AI. Overall, we can say that although AI holds considerable promise for a wide range of medical applications, its practical implementation poses certain challenges.

Besides the inspiring keynote presentations, many young researchers got the chance to present their projects in two pitch sessions. With their presentations they competed for the Young Investigator Award, which was granted at the end of the conference. While all of them did a great job, we want to highlight here that we are especially proud of two of our PhD students. Ms. Pittayapong and Mr. Eichleitner were granted YIA’s first and third prices, respectively. Congratulations!

Events like this are always a great opportunity to meet and exchange with people interested in the same research field and also gives young researchers the chance to make important connections for their future. We are really looking forward to next year’s AICI Forum conference and are excited to see the progress of AI in clinical imaging until then.
