{"id":1291,"date":"2011-01-31T22:07:50","date_gmt":"2011-01-31T21:07:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.fh-kaernten.at\/wehr\/?p=1291"},"modified":"2011-07-12T10:35:10","modified_gmt":"2011-07-12T08:35:10","slug":"pov-mobii-tegra-tablet-and-how-to-pimp-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.fh-kaernten.at\/wehr\/2011\/01\/31\/pov-mobii-tegra-tablet-and-how-to-pimp-it\/","title":{"rendered":"POV Mobii Tegra Tablet and how to pimp it"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"top\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.fh-kaernten.at\/wehr\/files\/2011\/01\/Mobii-tablet1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1295\" title=\"Mobii-tablet1\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fh-kaernten.at\/wehr\/files\/2011\/01\/Mobii-tablet1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"262\" height=\"154\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fh-kaernten.at\/wehr\/files\/2011\/01\/Mobii-tablet1.jpg 526w, https:\/\/blog.fh-kaernten.at\/wehr\/files\/2011\/01\/Mobii-tablet1-300x177.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 262px) 100vw, 262px\" \/><\/a>A few days ago I got a shiny new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pointofview-online.com\/showroom.php?shop_mode=product_detail&amp;product_id=188\">Point of View<\/a> Mobii <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nvidia.de\/object\/tegra_250_de.html\">Tegra <\/a>2 drive tablet.<\/p>\n<p>The POV Mobii is equipped with :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dual core Cortex A9 &#8211; 1 GHz<\/li>\n<li>NVIDIA Tegra 250<\/li>\n<li>Memory 512 MB DDR2 + 512 MB NAND<\/li>\n<li>LCD display 10.1&#8243; 1024&#215;600 Capacitive touch screen<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.fh-kaernten.at\/wehr\/files\/2011\/01\/full_pov.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1318\" title=\"full_pov\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fh-kaernten.at\/wehr\/files\/2011\/01\/full_pov.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"161\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fh-kaernten.at\/wehr\/files\/2011\/01\/full_pov.jpg 304w, https:\/\/blog.fh-kaernten.at\/wehr\/files\/2011\/01\/full_pov-300x193.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Operating system Android 2.2<\/li>\n<li>WiFi 802.11 b\/g<\/li>\n<li>Graphics output HDMI<\/li>\n<li>Audio ports Headphone out<\/li>\n<li>Speakers 2x 1 W<\/li>\n<li>Webcam 1.3M Pixel<\/li>\n<li>USB Ports 1x USB 2.0 host<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8211; So far so good.<\/p>\n<p>But&#8230;, there is no android market installed, &#8230; for now \ud83d\ude42 and the USB host mode is set to master.<\/p>\n<p>So what can you do&#8230;..<\/p>\n<p>After googling around and with the help of some hardware debugging I found out that the used hardware seems to more or less the reference design for the Tegra hardware which is also used in some other products.<\/p>\n<p>One of this is Products is the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myadventvega.co.uk\/\">Vega ADVENT<\/a> Tablet. The OS used with this tablet supports USB host slave mode .<\/p>\n<p>The first thing you have to do is to download the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myadventvega.co.uk\/\">image <\/a>for the Vega and flash you Mobii. (I&#8217;m using versoin 1.08).<\/p>\n<p>After bootup you will have a MobiiVega-hybrid :-). You will also notice that the Vega OS is a bit faster then the POV version.<\/p>\n<p>The next step is to upload a special ROM addon called the MoDaCo ROM addon. You can download it from <a href=\"http:\/\/android.modaco.com\/content\/advent-vega-vega-modaco-com\/324099\/29-dec-r6-modaco-custom-rom-add-on-performance-pack-for-the-advent-vega-1-06-5-with-online-kitchen\/\">here<\/a>. If you have problems installing the addon on your 1.08 image you can also <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fileserve.com\/file\/S2Sf5JU\">download <\/a>the 1.06.05<\/p>\n<p>Upload the addon is a bit more tricky. In the downloaded addon archive you will find an android debugging\u00a0 bridge driver ADB . This driver must be installed for your MobiiVega-hybrid.<\/p>\n<p>I used WIN7 for that process and encountered some problems where the tablet with activated USB debugging was not recognized by the OS.<\/p>\n<p>If you also run into this problem you can fix it like doing the following:<\/p>\n<p>Got to your device manager and open the USB-Controller section. There you will find a<strong> USB-Composite Device<\/strong>. Remove this device with its drivers and trigger a search for new hardware. Now you will get a new device ADB device for which you can install the ADB drivers.<\/p>\n<p>After extracting the downloaded archive execute the install scripts and &#8230; here you go with android market, and a lot of other goodies \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>If you interested in some more details you may also have a look <a href=\"http:\/\/android.modaco.com\/content\/advent-vega-vega-modaco-com\/326486\/advent-vega-roms-software-updates-guides-how-tos\/\">here<\/a>.
