This complex subject can be made more tangible through interactive visualization.<\/span><\/p><p><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family: 'Corbel',sans-serif;color: black\">We developed the <em>Interactive 3D Heart Anatomy Viewer<\/em><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family: 'Corbel',sans-serif;color: black\">, which is a tablet-based AR application that helps users explore the human heart and common heart diseases in an intuitive way. The application is designed for learners of all levels\u2014from curious individuals to students and teachers\u2014making heart anatomy more accessible and memorable.<\/span><\/p><p><b><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family: 'Corbel',sans-serif;color: black\">How does the application work?<\/span><\/b><b><\/b><\/p><p><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family: 'Corbel',sans-serif;color: black\">Users point the tablet\u2019s camera at a printed image\u2014kind of like scanning a QR code\u2014that\u2019s labeled with a specific heart condition, such as \u201cheart attack\u201d or \u201catrial fibrillation.\u201d When recognized, the app overlays a 3D animated heart model in augmented reality (AR), showing how the heart behaves under that condition. Labels identify different parts of the heart, and a brief info panel explains the disease. Some even recommended it to others. \u00a0Many of them appreciated how the application simplifies the understanding of the heart\u2019s complex anatomy through visual and interactive elements. Throughout the development process, we learned how to build a functional tablet-based program and gained valuable insights into designing for limited screen space while maintaining clarity and usability.<\/p><p><strong>Next Steps<\/strong><\/p><p>There are clear opportunities for future improvements, such as expanding language options and adding more heart conditions. These updates would make the application more inclusive and deepen its educational value.
