The journey of Moein Tavakoli started with the medical studies but then after second master studies of our Medical Engineering and Analytics program took a new turn towards AI-driven medical research. <\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout my career, I have always been passionate about interdisciplinary sciences. As a medical doctor, I constantly sought ways to enhance my analytical skills and apply artificial intelligence to medical research. Finding the right path to merge these interests was not easy, but pursuing a Master\u2019s degree in Medical Engineering and Analytics at Carinthia University of Applied Sciences provided me with the perfect opportunity.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Turning Point: Studying at CUAS<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

At CUAS, I had the chance to deepen my knowledge in medical analytics, learn from experienced lecturers, and engage with innovative projects that pushed the boundaries of traditional medicine. The program not only enhanced my technical skills but also opened doors to new research opportunities.<\/span><\/p>\n

Stepping into an EU-Funded Research Journey<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

With the foundation built during my master\u2019s studies, I found my way into a prestigious Marie Curie PhD program, specifically the EGRET-AAA project. This research initiative focuses on multimodal assessment of retinal function in end-stage glaucoma, allowing me to combine my medical background with my expertise in data analysis and artificial intelligence.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now, as a PhD researcher at Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg, I am working on developing advanced methods to assess functional, vascular, and structural changes in glaucoma. The ultimate goal is to contribute to medical advancements that could improve patient outcomes in the future.<\/span><\/p>\n

Looking Ahead<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

My journey\u2014from clinical medicine to AI-driven ophthalmic research\u2014highlights the power of interdisciplinary learning. The skills I developed at FH K\u00e4rnten played a crucial role in shaping my research career, and I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead in bridging medicine and data science for better patient care.<\/span><\/p>\n
